A true flavour of Italy in the heart of Tuscany
Why not enjoy a relaxing break in Tuscany; a landscape dotted with the olive groves and vine yards with mountains rising from the lush valley; a warm sun; lounging by the pool, or day trips to the stunning cultural sites of Florence, Sienna, Anghiari, Sansepolcro or Arezzo.
The warmth and hospitality of our self-catering Tuscan villa, Casa Gentili with its annex Casa Rosa provide the ideal base for any type of holiday throughout the year. Situated close to the historic village of Caprese Michelangelo (birth place of Michelangelo), and nestling in the lush Tuscan countryside, our villa provides an ideal base for holidays in Tuscany; a region often regarded as one of the most beautiful and cultural parts of Italy.
Casa Gentili and the annex Casa Rosa form part of an estate once owned by the Gentili family, a prominent and wealthy family with estates in the Arezzo province and connections to the gold industry in the heart of Tuscany.
Casa Rosa, the annex and smaller of the two properties dates back to the mid 18th Century, while Casa Gentili dates back to the 19th Century; although it replaced an earlier house dating backing to the 14th Century.
The extensive property was once one large manor house, but in later years was divided into three properties, for three sisters. Two of the properties, Casa Gentili (the main part of the manor house), and Casa Rosa (the smaller adjoining property) are now available to rent throughout the year, providing the visitor with a true taste of Italy.
Both Casa Gentili and Casa Rosa underwent extensive internal refurbishment during 2006 and early 2007, bringing them up to approved EU standards. Only local craftsmen have been used, many of whom remember the house in its former glory and have worked patiently to retain its charm and elegance.
A swimming pool and extensive patio area were added in the summer of 2006.
The properties provide an ideal base for touring and visiting many of Italy's notable tourist destinations including Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Arezzo, Pisa, Rimini and San Marino. Or if you prefer exploring on foot the properties are only 100 metres from a national way marked route, and a 10 minute drive from the National Park. In addition this is a great area for cycling - Italy's second national sport.
